Karlie Grace Blissenbach Successfully Completed Northeast Ohio Medical University's MEDCAMP Program

2016 Aug 3

Karlie Grace Blissenbach, a student at Southern Local High School and resident of Lisbon, was one of 52 students to recently attend and successfully complete the MEDCAMP program at Northeast Ohio Medical University July 21-23.

Now in its 26th year, MEDCAMP is designed to stimulate students' interests in the basic sciences related to medicine and pharmacy, and to expose them to career opportunities in those fields.

Students took part in hands-on experiences in biomedical science workshops involving research, clinical problem-solving and an introduction to the fields of clinical medicine and pharmacy. They joined physicians, pharmacists, NEOMED students, faculty and researchers in performing applied activities, including taking blood pressures, reading EKGs, working in the pharmacy lab and identifying bacteria under a microscope.

Middle school students from across Northeast Ohio applied to take part in the three-day program. To learn more about MEDCAMP, visit neomed.edu/medcamp.
