Gabrielle Ocampo Placed In Residency Program Following Graduation from Northeast Ohio Medical University

Gabrielle Ocampo of Gahanna, Ohio, will pursue a postgraduate year one pharmacy residency at Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale, Ariz., following graduation from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) this spring. Ocampo is a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School and The Ohio State University.

Twenty-one NEOMED pharmacy graduates placed into residency positions, 16 of whom will remain in Ohio and 11 of those remaining in Northeast Ohio, for their continued education.

The majority placed in one-year, health-system pharmacy programs; three placed in two-year, combined health-system pharmacy programs offering a concurrent master's degree program; and, one placed in a one-year community pharmacy residency program.

Individuals from the College of Pharmacy who participated in the match program were among graduates nationwide who received results of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program. The program includes both postgraduate year one and postgraduate year two pharmacy residencies. The program is sponsored and supervised by the ASHP and administered on behalf of the ASHP by National Matching Services Inc. Nineteen students submitted a rank list this year and matched, equating to 79 percent; well above the 63 percent national average for this year's match.
