Fady Abdlrasul Graduates From Northeast Ohio Medical University

Fady Abdlrasul, of Salem, Ohio, was one of 187 health professionals to graduate from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) during its commencement ceremony on May 18 at The University of Akron's E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Abdlrasul was awarded a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Dr. Abdlrasul will enter community pharmacy at Rite Aid in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Abdlrasul is a graduate of Salem High School. He is the son of Fayez and Hiam Abdlrasul.

As part of the event, the University Board of Trustees approved honorary degrees for two individuals: Lois Margaret Nora, M.D., J.D., M.B.A., former president and dean of the College of Medicine at NEOMED; and Eleanor I. Watanakunakorn, M.S., local philanthropist and respected friend of the University. Dr. Nora also delivered the commencement speech where she challenged students to seek and follow their passion.

Also honored at the event with the Distinguished Alumni Award was Theresa Gillis, M.D. ('89), medical director of Oncology Pain and Symptom Management Services at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at Christiana Care Health System.
