Daniel Jones Graduates From Northeast Ohio Medical University

Daniel Jones, of McDonald, Ohio, was one of 187 health professionals to graduate from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) during its commencement ceremony on May 18 at The University of Akron's E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Jones was awarded a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Dr. Jones will enter community pharmacy at Wal-Mart in Cortland, Ohio. Dr. Jones is a graduate of McDonald High School and Youngstown State University. He is the son of Jerome and Barbara Jones.

As part of the event, the University Board of Trustees approved honorary degrees for two individuals: Lois Margaret Nora, M.D., J.D., M.B.A., former president and dean of the College of Medicine at NEOMED; and Eleanor I. Watanakunakorn, M.S., local philanthropist and respected friend of the University. Dr. Nora also delivered the commencement speech where she challenged students to seek and follow their passion.

Also honored at the event with the Distinguished Alumni Award was Theresa Gillis, M.D. ('89), medical director of Oncology Pain and Symptom Management Services at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at Christiana Care Health System.
