Anton Bazarov Matched To Residency Program Following Graduation from Northeast Ohio Medical University

2013 Mar 22

Anton Bazarov of New Philadelphia, Ohio, will pursue Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial in Rochester, N.Y., following graduation from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) this spring.

Anton was one of 107 students from the College of Medicine's Class of 2013 who participated in national Match Day, March 15, where students from across the nation learned where they will continue their medical training in residency programs following graduation.

Fifty-three percent of the College of Medicine's graduating class will remain in Ohio for their residencies, 29 percent of which will remain in NEOMED's hospital partners, and 44 percent of graduates will continue their training in a primary care field such as family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics or obstetrics/gynecology.

Students began applying for residency programs at the beginning of their senior year and participated in interviews with hospital officials during the fall and winter months. Students indicated their residency preferences to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), hospitals indicated their preference of students, and the NRMP matched the two.

Anton is a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and Kent State University.
